• We had 1 new member join us in the beginning of June: Kovalane. The member has settled in well within his designated group.
• We continue to have appointments with the parents of potential members. We currently have 4 available spaces at the Centre.
• Member Assessments and Intervention: Members have been assessed and therapy interventions are ongoing at the Centre. Members either engage in group therapy or individual therapy.
• Wheelchair and buggy assessments are continuing. The Centre Manager has been attending to member home visits if required. We are still being directed by seating and mobility specialists from Shonaquip and CE Mobility.

2. Care Workers: Timetables and Training

• All our Care Workers and the Centre Manager have been successfully vaccinated as Health Care Practitioners.
• We have hired a new Care Worker for our growing Blue Group, Makhosazana Magwa, who started on the 28th of June 2021. She has settled well in the Blue Group, with Neli (Care Worker) being her mentor and helping her to adjust and learn in her role.
• The Care Workers continue to follow their proposed timetables for the members’ stimulation. The training that the Care Workers participated in has clearly benefited them as is seen in the approach that they take in their daily program. The program followed by the relevant groups has also caused a positive change in the members’ performance and development.
• The Centre Manager monitors the programs and advises on any plausible alternatives.
• The Care Workers will engage in further training and webinars as opportunities arise.

3. Therapists/Volunteers

• The therapy services provided by Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Physiotherapists are continuing. However, most therapists have reduced their visits due to the current 3rd wave of Covid. Once the 3rd wave recedes, the therapy services will resume as before.

4. Outings/ Special Events/ Upcoming Events

• There are no new events being planned due to Covid restrictions.
• Currently member events take place when birthday parties are held for the members, and everyone shares cake, dances a bit, and socialises outside.

5. General

• The collaboration with Blind SA has made progress. The first meeting with the lead researchers was held on the 25th of May 2021. The purpose of this session was to meet the relevant people who are involved in the project and to discuss the aims, objectives, and process of the research project.
• The Centre will remain open under the current Risk Adjustment Strategy Level 4 restrictions. Covid precautions will be re-enforced with employees and extra PPE will be obtained. The situation will be monitored, and should the number of infections rise, we will use a timetable to rotate the employees and members as we did previously, or we will close, depending on the severity of the rise.
